When news broke that Christina Aguilera was reuniting with former boy band The Backstreet Boys for a music video, old rival Britney Spears took to Twitter to send her musings, right alongside the message:
Britney Spears doesn’t seem interested in commiserating with her rival over their troubled personal lives or public crumbling.
As reported by E! News, “Britney Spears She’s an icon and just happens to have more hair problems than once in a while. It’s a woman’s world.” But, if you listen to Christina Aguilera, who’s been embroiled in her own personal drama recently, the perception about Britney Spears might as well be that she’s a non-mentor, non-woman.
Less than 24 hours after the news broke that Aguilera was teaming up with The Backstreet Boys to launch her new single at midtown Manhattan’s Highline Ballroom on Wednesday night, Britney Spears was on Twitter bashing Christina Aguilera for not joining her at the reunion.
“Hey @xtina so cool that @BackstreetBoys are working with you again! Let’s go New York!” Spears tweeted at 10:16 p.m. on Tuesday. While Aguilera’s Twitter @xtina did not tweet back, critics slammed Spears for allegedly tampering with the singer’s Insta-story before she finally re-activated her account later Tuesday night at 10:47 p.m.

Feeling The Backstreet Boys and @xtina best friend @LenOhanesian have grown in 2017/2018? So are we and we want to celebrate with all of you on Thursday! pic.twitter.com/7N5qZmJLfy — Backstreet Boys (@backstreetboys) November 21, 2018

Later that evening, Britney Spears herself re-posted a tweet from People that read: “Congrats to the band of the moment — Backstreet Boys.
Britney Spears looked pretty glowing when she turned up at the @xtina reunion on Wednesday with the Backstreet Boys.
The song is “Without You,” a duet with A.J. McLean, Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrell and Howie Dorough. Aguilera joined them for the performance, singing her part in front of a crowd of screaming fans, reports Entertainment Tonight.
However, Spears was more than a half-hour late for the event. Making matters even worse, while fans waited inside the ballroom, their invited guests were instead treated to late-night cocktails and a live performance by DJ Khaled in honor of his new project, which is also called “Khaled House.”
Fortunately, this wasn’t the first time Spears has questioned Christina Aguilera over her personal life and presence on social media.
In 2011, when Spears was experiencing her own personal drama, the pair seemed to distance themselves. Spears tweeted: “You know my twitter acct is different when you have 4 name blocked” after receiving a lot of mean messages from the Latin community about her profile picture, reports Contact Music. She later took a screenshot of the blocked users and added that she wasn’t sure if she should “continue to be who I am online.”
It seems like the two women may be engaged in a Twitter war for once and will share a hug for the cameras once the event in New York City has finished.
